Design work and non-substantial construction
The first steps or non-substantial construction, incorporate undertaking site survey, test drilling/test excavations associated with geotechnical investigations, building and road pre-construction surveys, installing site boundary fencing and other associated works. In addition, the project site office and compounds are established to provide office space, concrete batch plants and equipment storage areas for the duration of the project construction phase.
Locations of site offices and batch plants
Zone A - Coopernook to Stewarts River - site office and concrete batch plant will be established in Forest Road, Moorland. An additional batch plant may be established in Zone A.
Zone B - Stewarts River to Camden Haven River - the project office and information centre will be established in Wharf Road, Johns River and a concrete batch plant will be established at the RTA’s existing stockpile site on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway near Stoney Creek.
Zone C - Camden Haven River to Herons Creek - a site office and a concrete batch plant will be established on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway, three kilometres south of Herons Creek opposite Mid Coast Eggs. Substantial construction
Substantial construction commenced in November 2007 and involves heavy plant and machinery, traffic changes, drainage, earthworks, pavement construction and the start of bridge construction. At all times, the alliance will ensure that the people who are likely to be directly affected are informed prior to works commencing. Construction works will be undertaken by Thiess and its sub-contractors.
